Perhaps the editor bcuins to sec himself as others sc.- him. Mr. M. W. Downey is now discharging the duties of Treasurer of Marshall county, having tnken possession on the I2th of August. Mr. Dowiu v will make a prompt, eflicicnt and accommodating official, and Ave predict, will nt permit the office to be contaminated very much with abolition deputies and clerks. His duty to the Democracy who elected him if nothing more, would not permit him to thus recklessly disregard the claims of his democratic supporters. Mr. Wagouer was making a critical examination of one of the mills the other day, when he accidentally caught his lbrc-fiu-ger between the two wheels while in motion, which took it off at the firt joint. We are indebted to 31 rs. J. II. Case for one of the nicest boquets of the seasou. The M. K. Sunday School arc preparing fur a grand pic-aic on Thursday the 12th inst. This school is one of the largest iu the couuty and being conducted iu a systematic manner is last gaining a reputation that will place it among the firat Sunday schools of the State, Mr. Krohn the Supt. is untiring iu his eudeavors to make the school a success and is well fitted for the place he occupies. 31 r. It is hoped his efforts iu this direction wi'l be crowual with entire success.
