There is fomething like a stampede from 1hc Re publican ranks in Pike County, Ohio. The Democracy arc counting their gains there 1.V the dozen. The external indications of piospenty are to be seen in the immense throng upon our streets, daily, now that the busy season among fanners is over. The crowds of people and team in town mean " business." The radical imbroglio in Tent essce is reported to be very bitter. The sooner the Brownlowites of that State re-enact Ihe tragedy of Kilkeny Cats the better it will be for decent people in that region. A large amount of business has been before the Circuit Court at the present term. The civil docket was extraordinarily large. A number of criminal causes w ere disposed of. The Court will adjourn to-day. Ira J. Baker w ill open a select school in Uniontown, (Marmont) on Monday Sept. 2d, 1807. "Beyoxu ttie Mississirri." This 13 the title of a work by Albert D. Richardson, and foi ms a " comp'ete history of the new States and Territories from the Great River to the Ocean," and contains many incidents of "life and adventures on the Prairie, Mountains and the Pacific Coast," with over 200 descriptive and Photographic views. This history is not only deeply interesting to those who may contemplate emigrating to the " far west," but also to others, its minute details giving the reader a correct and vivid description of the country lying bcttyeen the M ssissippl and the Pacific. Its rapid sale is the strongest evidence of its popularity and exciting interest. The advertisement appears in another column to which we refer the reader. The Twin Lakes Sunday School, Mr. C-
Grube, Superintendant, and the School of w hich Mr. Knoblock is Superintendant, held their first pic nie at Twin Lake3 on Saturday. Both of these Schools are young, yet numbering about 150 scholars. The choicest delicacies of the season were partaken of by the people, of whom between 500 and COO were present. Addresses were delivered 03 Rev. .Mr. Miklcs and Mr. II. B. Pershinr, of this place, and Mr. Harper, of Chicago. The day's recreation was highly gratifying to allThe leading radical press of the country ure beginning to animadvert up Gen. Grant very severed. His- chances for the nomination by the radicals arc becoming pretty slim. A few radical papers are trying to create the impression that Gen. Grant took the portfo lio of the war oil ice in obedience to orders. In his letter he uses the term "accept." This is not the language of obedience. "Comply" is the word indicating obedience. Clcaveland, Hawley & Co. Sign of the Golden Boot Challenge all the Boot Makers in Marshall County, to make a pair of Boots, either sewed or pegged, to be exhibited at the County Fair. If we do not hear from some of the shops we shall conclude that they arc afraid to w ork against our celebrated calf boot maker, Mr. John Quigg. Wc arc nowprepared to suit the people with any kind of fall and winter goods. CLEAVELAND, ÜAWLET & CO. Melons. The melon crop seem3 to be abundant, or a large breadth of ground has been occupied in their cultivation. They are oiTcred on the street by the wagon load, and are "lying about loose" upon the sidewalks in profusion, while in every shady nook and corner from two to six men and boys may be seen engaged in doing ample justice to the Fame. Personal. E. W. Brown, Editor of the Columbia City Post.called upon us last Thursday. Mr. B. is a genial, companionable gentleman with whom it is a pleasure to associate, and wilhal, a live Democrat, and publishes a live pnper, which will do much toward promulgating sound political doctrine. "William Richardson, of Paulding County, Ohio, is one hundred and four years old. "lie is the survivor of five wives, and inow living w ith the sixth. lie N the father of twenty-five children by two of his wives twentyone are living. Mr. Richardson has always voted the Democratic ticket." Reverend Father Dcsmiel, the Indian missionary who accompanied General Sully and Colonel Parker to the In.'ian tribes on the Upper Missouri, has returned to St. Louis, and reports that the Indians there are disposed to go on the reservations proposed to be set aiide for t lie: u, and remain neutral. The Manufacturer, and Miner. This is the name of a new paper just started in Brazil, edited bv Thomas J. Grav and K. M. 1. Hooker. Mechanically and editorially the piper presents a fine front, and if the spirit and ability displayed in the first number is continued it will do much to develop the valuable interests of Clay county. The publishers say : 'as its name indicates, it will be chiefly devoted to the mininir and manufacturing interests of Indiana. We wish to place before the people of the whole country the immense mineral wealth of this section." I10 Arc Eic hels ? The radical journals think it is a very smart thing to speak of the forty or fifty thousand Democrats and conservatives who have just voted against Republicanism in Kentucky as the "rebel" majority, hut they may rest assured the day is gne by when that slily displiy of partisan malice will deceive anybody. The truth is, there are no rebels iu this country now except the radicals. Jeff. Davis never was a worse rebel at heart than, for example, the members of the Rump Congress who voted the other day to exclude Kentucky members of Congress from their scats. The r-jbel, in arms, fought to dissolve the Union, but they did their work open and aboveboard not in the sneaking, hypocritical way affected by the Radical rebels, who, with eulogies of the Union eternally upon their lips, are exerting all their energies to keep that Union divided. Then there is the Tribune's pet, Parson Riownlow what bigger or meaner rebel than he ever lived 1 Devoting years and years of his ill-spent li'e, before the war, to the execration of the "Yankees," and the Yankee abolitionists," when the conflict which he helped to provoke commenced, he chinged his coat, came over into the rebel camp, and, like all apostates, he soon becamea liore furious opponent of his former (secession) friends than the Yankees themselves. Living and trading for a while 011 Northern sympathy, he has now managed to juggle h mself for the second time into the Governorship of the State of Tennessee, by a series of frauds and subterfuges, and acts of petty despotism which the worst rebel that ever breathed might seek to emulate in vain. Xo such man as DrowLlow, and no such party as that which 15 supporting Rrownlow, can be the friends cf free government. They arc a disgrace to the very name of republicanism. At heart, we repcaat it, they arc rebels, and very mean rebels it that. Ac 10 York Ex2res. .CT' An exchange well says: "Out of every dollar the laboring man earns about sixty cents is taken indirectly to keep the indolent negroes, to maintain a military despotism over eleven States and to enrich radical officials. This is why our poor men are kept poor, and our laboring men complain of hard times. It is high prices and hih taxes that takes their money, and it is the negro bureau, military despotism, and radical officials that make high taxes. To get rid of these Radicalism must be votcel out of power."
Tbc payment of the bonded debt in legal tenders is so popular an issue that it is being favored ia many localities without distinction of party. The ltadical Convention in Preble County, oue of their strongholds, which gives them one thousand majority, passed the followiug resolutions : 1. That wc indorse toe State Union Platform, and that we will give it and the State ticket our hearty support at the polls on the second Tuesday of October. "2. That we are in favor of paying the national dcbTin icgal tender notes, to be issued by Congress iu auflivicnt amounts t enable the people to pay the asscssmeuts of the Government as now levied, rn I speedily liquidate the debt, believing that such a policy would stimulate labor, encourage industry, and develop the resources of the country." Radical Thick. The Indianapolis correspondent of the Lebanon Sentiwil thus exposes a trick of the radicals to appropriate money out of the city treasury lor electioneering purpose : We have no local news of importance. The city council appropriated fifteen hundred dollars to the Srcngerfest to come off the first of September. The appropriation was made to aid in the construction of a wigwam in the court house yard, with the express understanding that the radical party should u?e it for the purpose of holding their nightly pow wows iu during the next Presidential campaign. The party of ' great moral ideas " have an cc to business in voting away the people's money to aid their owu party purposes. Coal Oil foii lloo Cholera. It is a fac t not generally known, that coal oil is a certain remedy for hog choler 1. It should be given iu table-spoonful doses, about three times a week. Mr. Valentilc Franklin informs us that he has tried it with perfect success in some of the worst cases. One animal was so far gone that it could not walk. Coal oil was given, and in twenty-four hours it was well. A trial will not cost much, and it is certainly policy for farmers to give it a few trials. Libanon Sentinel.

people of this country in buying cheap and almost worthless stoves, a larre portion of which was wasted ; and that true economy consisted in buying the best stoves that could be made, notwithstanding the price was higher. With this view, we proceeded to construct the Ainrirai C(.li;i'j Stoff, and spared no pains or expense to make it the be!, and niot perfect stove that could he made. And we have experimented with it, and carefully watched It- operation for the lat six year, and when an improvement su-rgested itself, wc have at once adopted it, and we have several of these secured by letter patent. In this manner, wc no not hesitate to say, we have brought it to a higher state ot perfection than has heretofore been attained in cooking stoves. The recent improvements in this stove has added largely to its convenience and effectiveness. In all the varieties of stoves we manufacture, we study usefulress, durability, convenience and economy in operation, rather than cheapness in price, and in so doing we are satisfied wc study the interest of those purchasing our stoves.
