Faclrf fjr trie People . The committee appointed by the Democratic Staie convention which was held in this city uq the 15th of March, through its chairman, Judge J. M. Hanna, reported a Furies of resolutions which were
1 unanimously adopted by the convention. j The address tooths people nr, the que?lion oi Oia;e auu r.auouai po'icy wiuni aic now absorbing the public mind, was ! read to the convention in consequence of statin": that it had received the unanimous .pproval of the eonuritte, the State eon tral committee was dir rioted to v.ublish it in pamphlet form and t provide f r its gcn eral distribution. The address appears in tho Htrunl of this morning, and we bespeak for it from the people generally the careful perusal and consideration which its Toxical ibree and cogent array "of f icts" upon the living issues now before the country demand. It is a document which will not fiil to convince all candid minds, not blinded by partisan prejudices, and passions, that tho cardinal principles which uudcilie a free Government are in danger of boinpj subverted by the representatives of the party in power, and that they are incapable of suceefully administering public affairs to promote the general welfare. The address sets, forth clcarlv the powcrs of the Federal and Stale Governments', opposing the coctrinc of State uicide, as advanced by Sumner and his abolition co adiutors.nud maintains succcssfullv that. u-u practical fc-i, the StaJcs lat?ly in re hellion weac uever loyally out of the Lu in. but that their relations to the general ed by tiic radical party i as its action in passing the so-called Civil Rights bill, and then overriding the President's ve!o of that infamous and v.r. constitutiouai measure, demonstrates, are distinctly repudiated. In ths face of the j provisions of tho Constitution which dc- ! dure that two thirds of houses of Con-rres ate accessary to propose amendments to that instrument and pa.s laws over the I'lesideiit's veto, the radicals in Congress although bare majorities in both branches, propose anieudmcuts to tliö Constitution aud .pass laws over the President's objee tions. lut we have not spacs ths morning to allude generally to tho lher subjects which the a'Idress discusses with marked ability. The Trcedmcn'o ISureau bill; thc repeal of thc black laws; tiic tcmperouce question; the tariff; the State government; the pub lie debt, including the ifcsuc uf l.ixiug government seeurities, are .11 haudied in a masterly mauncr. The address is in fact a text book upon the issues uow before a text boo! I thc country i facts, figun and it pre-sonts an array of urcs and arguments deserving the consideration of every citizen. The length of the address, for it could not be compressed icto a smaller compass should not deter any ono from reading it, and we can say that they will be amply pompe i, sated if they wish to be thoroughly in formed upon the public and political questions of the da.
