Johnson, Poolittlc, Cowan and Raymond have heretofore belonged to and acted with the abolition party, and wer powerful auxilarie3 thereto, inasmuch as they have sererally beea elected to the highest and most honorable positions within the gift of the people. Yc are rejoiced that these able gentlemen finally appreciate tho correctness of Democratic principles, and possess the manly courage to openly avow them. XF.wspArKR Chang ks. Quite a number of changos have taken place in the newspapers of Indiana rcceutly. Among the number to which we have not alluded are the Fort Wayne Times Sc Sentinel. purchased by I. Zimmerman, of the Columbia City Post. The Columbia City Pott will be conducted under the Editorial management of Col. I. 15. McDonald, formerly editor of the -Yetr of that city, an able writer. The La Porte f'm'oii has passed into the hands of Messrs. M. & J. Culhiton, and is enlarged to a handsome lize. The Anderson Standard is now under

theaxclusivc control of our old friend Van. Long. I'ndcr hi.s jurisdiction the Standard will not laclc in interest, for he is what is termed a spicy writer, a true Democrat, and ever ready to defend the principles of that time honored party, against the false imputations of the black republican party. Wc ncticc that a new democratic paper has been established at Cambrige City, which made its appearance last week. Lafe Develin, is one of its editors, and thi3 is a odicicnt guarantee ot its soundness. Ye heard him make a few remarks at the famous liOth of May Convention, iu 130:2, at Indianapolis, when Huscall, the petty tyriat. governed the State, which suited our ideas of democracy exactly. Success to the new enterprise; and may it prove a power in putting down the defiant spirit of Julianism in the Durnt District,

The Rochester Standard notice the rather singular doing of a stranger in that place, as follow: One day last week a man who said his name was O'Dell, visited our town, and created quite an excitement in the way of buying goods, Sec. lie caused ten dollars worth of groceries to be carefully put up at ('. Chamberlains, seventy dollars worth of booti and shoes at Glick Pro's, and in fact lie bought goods at several places in town but did net take theni away or pay for them. He went to C. Hoovers and ordered a coffin for his wife, and also

went to Martin & wagoners and done the

same, they both went to work, but finally found out it was a sell, after they had each coffin about half finished. We are inclined to think he was a little ''cracked in the 'ead."

Giving Av.ay the Public I.tuuli io IVcgroes. A telegraph dispatch from Washington says: "The IIou3c Committee on Freedmen, authorized their Chairman to report a bill continuing the Rureau, and enlarging its powers in accordance with the recomendations of General Howard. Ths bill authorizes the President to set apart in the States of Florida, Mississippi and Arkansas, under the Homestead L:iw three millsons of acres of Government lands, the same to be allotted in parcels of fortv acreseacli tofreedmsn, at such rental as may be agreed on, and giving the freedmen the right to purchase the laud at any time by paying it3 valuation." Those who can read the above, without an intense feeli ig of disgust and indignation, are posst33ed of stronger love for the negroes than a wise philanthropy demands. This is but the entering wedge for the establishment of a set of negro coU onics in the south, which under the fostering care of white negroes in the north, will first ripen into political equality with the other States in the Union, than speedily degenerate to a level with the barbarian of Africa. This has been the programme of the more advanced radicals from the beginning. We shall see whether it can be carried into effect. A:; Eai roii's Yisit to Ply mo utii. Mr. Rippcy, editor of the Xwthern Lidianian. who calied on us the first Sunday after the great fira in this place, gives the

following a? the result of his observations while here : Plymouth looked bad with the' best business block iu the city in ruins; and what is worse, to think that the terrible fire was caused by the carelessness of a set of men who were drinking, smoking and playing cards until r. late hour at night. It is supposed that the fire caught from a lighted cigar that was thrown on the floor amongst souie shavings. We called upon S. L. Harvey, of the Plymouth Democrat, who accompanied us to the Episcopal Church in the morning. The ' church was handsomely decorated, r.nd is one of the neatest church buildings that wc have been in for somo time. Rev. Lusk delivered a very excellent discourse. We dined with our editorial friend at the Eating House of tho Pittsburgh, Fort Wayne v Chicago Railway. Wc have never set down to a better dinner in all our travels at a railroad eating houc. Tn the afternoon wc attended tho Presbyterian Sabbath School, which we were pleased to see wai largely attended by the young

They had been sent to Florence, and then from thero to Richmond, Ya. and from there to Plymouth. The eTening wc ppent at the resilience of our excellent friend, Pavid Hartman, until car time. We returned home nt 10 1 P. M. Wo found Plymouth to be a verv

The mad fanaticism of Abolitionism is so developing itself that no man ran doubt its purpose to demand uegro suffrage everywhere. All who favor that objectionable policy should vote tho Republican ticket. All men opposed to that policy, heretofore acting with the Republican part', will see the goal at which the Radicals are driving and refuse to longer fullow their lead. Lojan-fpurt Pharos.

IVno Fays tlic Flyer? The National Currency iiik of Xcw York City declared last year cash dividends amounting to GO pr cent., and 00 per cent, additional that was laid by as urplus. Th capital of the Rank is exempt from State and nainicipal taxation. It receives six per cent, from the Federal Government on its capital, which are fire-twenty bonds, and pays no tax thereon. It receives within ten per cent, of the face of its bonds National currency notes to bank on, on which it pays no tax. 1 1 receives immense deposits in greenbacks and National currency notes, on which also it bauki, but on which it pays no interest. This i a specimen of the whole brood of National banks. All is grist that conies to their mill, and they pay no toll to the Government. Little wonder is it that they can declare Ltrirc dividends.
