Th'jmpsjn haa lived in this County all hiv life, and hi alwaye been a filer ling Democrat, and id every way qualified to bring order out of the existing chaos and contusion at present reigning in iho Auditor's office. D O. Quivky, when electeJ, as he un questionably will be, will perioral the du lie of Tiea&urer with fidelity. Judged by the Jeffersonian lest 'he is honest ca pable and faithful to the .Constitution. He is a conservative Democrat, an honest man, and in eveiy way a gentle an. Let him be elected by a rousing majority, it is alike due to hiai and the neopla of the County. H. M. Logan is an old citizen, well known to the voters of this County, as a thorough going man in all he undertakes. who, if elected, will faithfully and impar tially discharge the duties ol bherift. We congratulate tho citizens of Marshall Co., on the favorable prospect of having, for the next tro 3 ears, au efficient and trust-worthy man in so impoitant an office. Messt s. Garkison and Vjrks, the Dem ocratic candidates for Commissioner, aie men of sound judgment, good financial ability, capably of conducting the buciness affairs of the County with advantage. The loose manner in which the business of this Countv has been conducted, for the last year or two, calls loudly for ref ormation. Are you willing to bow youi head in servile Submission to the ruk of puch men as are now exerting all thiii strength anil influence to ruin your pres eut government? Answer. 2Jo, emphatically, no; and this is the reason why we oppose with all our might, armed rebellion on one hand. and the disunion dogmas of abolitionism. or the other. Id. Does any truly loyal man wish the Union aa it was? Answer, Yes, every one. None but secessionists and abolitionists desire to 'let the Union slide,' ami in i'.9 stead eiect something new and untried. Every loyal man wishes to see the Union restored o us pristine puiity and vigor, when every SUte, and the citizens of all the States shall yield obedience to the Constitution as it i, and enjoy the tights and immuni ties, the blesMni's and benefits to which hey are entitled under that sacred charter of human lights a'id American privileges. and no man U truly loyal who, in this crisis, desires any departure from the ancient landmarks established by our fathers. or who desires some new thiiiLf. which 1. j fods, fanatics and traitors denominate 'the Union as it ought to be. SCIIUYILKU COJLFAX. We undera.and that Mr. Colfax has recently taken occasion to abuse the Plymouth Democrat without stint. Wo had no idea lhat we ware such a thorn in the side of the Hon. gennlleman, but if it will afford him any gratification to abuse us, we can See no reasonable objection. His whole political capital consists in turning the atlentnn of ihe people from the real issues before them, und unl& he can do this effectually he knows as vrII at ws Ido that he is doomed to defeat. KepuMlcan IIcetiug at 12ocIicflcr. We understand that the republican ab olitioti candidate for Congiees made a speech at Rochester on Saturday last to a tmall squad of the faitlful, 6-y about one huwdied all told. The ultra i-.boliiion ten dency of Mr. Colfax as efthihr.ed by his Votes in thu last Conreos, and his speech es since he has taken the stump, ia becom ing so well kr-own that it is materially lessening his influence over the maines ol hos who really love their Coumrj more than the rickety concern of modern repub licanisra. The consequence is Schuyler feels b:;d at d shows it; he growls and whines by turns, nnd is evidsnlly contemplating the probability of a return to pri vate life, a consummation a no way pleas ant for him to look upon. That Scbbcmptijs. The Republican very gravely Hbks if a subscription list for the benefit of tohiieis and their families, was not circulated heie in 1UG1, if any Democrat signed it? In reply we ask the Republican if any Republican ever paid a single dollar on that subscription? Didn't every man of them tepudiaie? and didn't the Republican afterwards excuse, if not commend them for so doing? We are credibly informed that such is the case. It is a cheap sort of patriotism and philanthropy to subsciibe and then refuse to j)ay. Joint C'auvuts Tor Congress. In several of the speeches lately made b) Mr. Colfax, he has taken occasion to speak in disparaging terms of his opponent Judge Turpie in relation to a joint canvaäs of the district s rying th Judge re fuses to canvass the district with him. It was due to courtesy that Mr. Colfax should have tendered his opponent an in vitation to meet him before the peopl, which we understand he (ailed to do. Mr. Turpie ha sought to make such an arrangernet t, but as yet for some reascn unknown to u it has not been agreed upon. Of this we are sure, the fault is not chargable to Judge Turpie.
