For the sake of political power they slander and defame the character of their neighbors nd friends. Nt misrepresentation is too great for them to circulate about Democrats, of whosi kospitalities they have often partook, and whose honesty and integrity they do not for en moment seriously doubt. They circulate in the meanest conceivable mani.er, the lies manufaetured by the president of the court house clique, than whom there is not a more deceptive, hLhonest and hypocritical politician to be found any where. These very men, who h ive fr years delighted in calling the Democratic party the 44 whiskey Democracy," because Democrats did not advocate tnnh law, hav now turned about and put on their county ticket a man who is, by the manufacture and sale of his ber and whiskey, miking more drinkers than all the ret of the 44 rum se ller" in tfic county. Some of them have already told us that they are doin this to secure the election of their candidates, and admitted that it was 44 corrupt, but after seein that he h id admitted too much for the good of his rotten and corrupt cause, said th:y had learned these tricks of the Demerath party, an t that they wer going to put them into use. This acknowledging that they intend being as "corrupt" as they have groundlesaly charged the Democrats with being, or in other words, as 'corrupt' as thy can be.
