. . . . with meaning to one who, being poor in rurse. proud in snirit. has no olhar armor - j but a gooi name with which in enter lhe bsttle of life. An nncient writer of some reputation for wisdom, hns said "a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches;" und inasmuch as men generally tie so very sensitive to any reflections having an unfavorable benring upon their characters, and partaking myself ol this universal sensitiven s., I think I 8m justified in uttering what follows. It is not that I have a disposition to ccmnlain of the usage received frsm the world as a body, for I believe people generally do about ns near right as circumstances will admit; but most unfortunately for the peace of this placp, there is a class of impertinent meddlers who make it their very particular business to pry into and superintend the domestic ba well as all other private matters appertaining to the afioiis of their neighbors. Indeed these supciit: te ndents uf our individual business have become an intol erab!e nuisance Curiosity must be gratified at all hazards no mitter what the expense to private character anj these persons always like to believe the worst that can b said of another, the private business of no mm, woman or famlv is exempt from their malienant intrusions. These are the disturbers of the peace of neighborhoods who art seldom reacned by the lnv, although they perpetrate more and worse crimes than the pirate or murderer hurglars, breaking into and disturbing the domestic tranquility of families gamblers, ciealing nißVrences nnd perpotu-itiug hitter, degrading animoiities between individual? v hich but for them might be healed rubbers of the good name cui reputation of thsse who vojld do right assassins of the character of the pure and defenceless. Scarcely a man can leave his home for a week bu'. he is bra tided es an absconding debtor; full scope is given to the tongue ssaniil stalks rampant through the town suspicion is aroused concerning the integrity of the man but he returns to enJuie the effects which this unfeeling malignity renders impossible for him to escape. But I began this article with lhe intention of being somewhat pointed and particular, and if any persm or persons feci like making a home application of what 1 hare sail or may say, I shall fed that I have written to some purpoo. Such as are not made sore will of course not frei disturbed. mlj perscnaJ grievances ilull be stated in genaial terms; and inasmuch as the general statement includes all the particulars, I shall be very brief now but if anything more specific seems lo be called for, I will present it in another article. And first, I claim to be an hnnorablo man, and appeal to the men of Plymouth who have, sinte my residence here, been most intimate with me, to designate the first instance where I hive acted otherwise than uprightly. If these meddlers are in possession of Information having a bearing unfavorable on my character s a mau. I invite them to gi?e the public the facts, or at least to inform those who know me best, that I may be either crushed at once or else have an opportunity to repel the charges. I own I am bankrupt in fortune. Some of naj traducars are in a fix no better pessibly worse. Ia character I am not entirely bankrupt in the estimation of the bitter class of Plymouth. Can these slanderers say as much? The public have no butinesj to know aught of my domestic difficulties, These are my private affairs, in which outsiders täte no concern. I do, however, say that I was never unkind to my wife, as these talking, walking newspapers have admitted, and now if I have done anything criminal if I vras ever otherwise than indulgent in my family, or otherW.ise than "gmtlemanly iu demernor in

The Pills invariably open those obstructions to which female are liable, nr.il brini' nature into its proper chabnM. whereby health is restored ami the pule and deathly countenance cnaiiged to a healthy one. No female can enjoy good health unless she is regular; ami whenever an obstruction takes place whether from exposure, cold, or any otliT cause, the Reneral health immediately tgius to decline i and the waut of such a remedy has heen the cause of so many consumption among young females. To ladies whose health will not permit an increase of thir family, thes-i pills will prove a valuable acquisition ua they will prevent pregtiaticy. Head-ache, pain in the side, palpitation of the heart, loathing of food, and disturbed sleep, do most always arise from the irruption of nature; and whenever that is tin case the pills will invariably remedy til thrse evilü.
