THE BANNER
ABOUT HOME. rj"Extra copies ol the Banner, in wrappers, ready for mailing maybe had at the office for 5 cents each. The Marshall Circuit Court adjourned on Saturday last, afier a two week's term, and then did not quite clear up the docket. Tha weather has very materially mod erated wiihin the past few days in this locality, and the snow and it? attendant benefits and inconveniences are fast disappearing. Agricultural Society. The Township delegates of tKe Marshall County Agricultural Society are requested to be promptly on hand at the Recorder's offico, on Saturday next at 10 o'clock, a. in., to attend to business of importance to the Society. Advertisement favors haveneuily confined our reading summary to two papes. Although we have carefully set aside all ld and uon-paying ones, we still find Our room fcr that purpose amply occupied. The extensive and increasing circulation of the Banner in Northern Iudiana, iny alone commend it as an advertising medium, and when its patrons in this department are satisfied, we shall feel amply remunerated tot cur efforts to advance their interests. Crtifyin?. It is certainly gratifying to tea the 'Bhoys of our own town engaging ia business with a manly fortitude of which their parents may justly be prjud. icsteadof ''tramping," "carousing." gambling, drinking, &c, &c. See the newfirm iu the Saddle and Harness mating, advertised in this paper up stairs over the Tin shop of another very deserving youug firm few doors south of the Brick store. Patrouize and them. encourage IiFORllATlON. Our friends frequently tell us that, if they could write for the public eye, we might enjoy accounts of üiany incidents perhaps interesting to cur leaders. Of course, they mean correctly 5c grameticslly white? Now all those hiving interesting items, incidents, &c, interesting to the general readerand who will furnish us with the materials. my often benefit us end the reading cotnunity. by furnishing th?m in their own style. Pgmontl) Banner, The first permanent Newspaper established at Plymouth, lud. Independent in all Illings; YtUffii by 110 party trammels, riiqaw or srirhh Inflarnrts hcl'din; sacred llic pablic good: EXTEND ITS CAREER.! The Oth Volume of the Plymouth Weekly Banner will be co rrr.enced immediately alter the expiration of the present volume, and although it lias at prese d a permanent living patronage, it is the anxious desire of its proprietor to increase its circulation end usefulness. In a few weeks mor-. we shill commence the third year of our connection uiih tliij establishment, and whilst we reek this as a fit opportunity to return our warmest thanks to those- who hare manifested nn unfaltering devotion in its prosperity, we appeal to them at the same time, to continue their evcrtious in extending the circulation of the paper and its advert'sing patronage. As heretofore the Banner will occupy an Independent position upon all topics wliich may agilat the public, mind leaving its conductor free to vote as his own discretion may dictate; and when parties get upon our platform w e will sustain them, and when they abandon it we will as promptly and reely repudiate tbem. We are conscientiously opposed to the extension of slavery beyond its present limit, and would gladly see it abolishe I waere it now exists; b-t we are just as much opposed to he use of illegal and unjustifiable means to accomplish tiese ends. We fali out with no one for differing with us upon such subjects, and feel justifiable in expecting the same liberality at the hands of others. Doth in our social and political intercourse with our friends, we have doubtless erred "we know we have, and who has not? Whilst our faults maybe of one character and thosu of our neighbors partaking of another, charity, mutual forbearance and kindness may apply the essential remedy; an 1 so far as we are concerned careless about special promises ne shad inces.-antly strive to avoid all error. When this is done, irreconcilable enemies may bark and hol at our heels until they mire and rot in their native filth. It is a pleasure to have the gopd will and patronage of every one. unless it has to be purchased at too great a sacrifice; but we have ver placed too high an estimate upon the kind and liberal inhabitants of Northern Indiana, to believe that there are very many of their number requiring that sacrifice. The terms of the paper will be as heretofore, and by the aid and exertion of cur friends, we hope to commence the 5th volume of the Plymouth Banner with an increased circulation; and surely, in view of the flattering prospects of our town, and the increased facilities that are just at the very doors of our mercantil laboring and Jsricultural classes, in the way of Railroad andother improvements of wnica the Banner has ever been the firm friend we may reasonably expect the realization of our wishes.
