Editor: By your permission I ill endeavor to give your readers a short tketch of the Odd Fellow's celebration at Warfaw on the Uh inst. One o'clock Saturday A. M. found me on my way to Warsaw, in company with gome 501115 frundg from our own town. We tyok the route around by way of Ii?eburgh, through some fine country, on whech we noticed some excellent crops growing. Oils more especially. We arrived at Lesburgh about seven o'clock A. M. and took breakfast at the Empire House, which, by the way, is kept by a gentlemanly landlord, as are all of our Northern Indiana Hotels. From thrre we pursued our journey to arsaw, the place of our destination. We there found a large concourse of citizens assembled, and more arriving, and among them a great number of the Order. Abut 13 o'clock A M. the procession was formed a! the hall, headed by the Goshen Brass Bind, and marched to the grove west of town, where we were entertained by an oration from G. B. Joicelyn, of New Albany, in which he por trayed the beiuties of Odd Fellowship in an animated address of over two hours. There were over two hundred brethren of the Order in the procession, and a goodly liHinber of the daughters of Rebecca, all in thrir respective regalias, which was, indeed, a beautiful sight. After the oration was concluded we were again matched to tewn, where there was an excellent collation prepared by Mr. PeUon, of Pelton's Exch ange, which was served up iu good style and with good appetites, too. The Order have, a fine hall at Warsaw, and are in a thriving condition. The greatest unanimity of feeling prevailed among the brethren oflhe different lodges represented, and every one enjoyod the festivity with pleasure and delight. ever iu my life did I see an audienc mora enchained than was the atsembly that listened to brother Joicelyn on this occasion. He is an excellent speaker, and his oration was interspersed with anecdotes suitable to the occasion, in w hich the whole audience would, join in m hearty laugh; and again he would have Lis audience moved to tears when reciting some charitable net of a brother. Warsaw is a fine little village, but I think it cannot "come in" in comparison - with cur town. Soon we will have railroad connection with it, and when we 5Jnow more about it, we will like it bet. ter. I noticed on my way home that the work on the Ft. Wayne, road, between ' this place and Warsaw, was being fast pushed along. More anon. D. Sad Affair. A horrible tragedy occurred recently at Decatur Hollow, Olsego county N Y. Il appears that some tchool-boys hid some playthings belonjing to another boy, and a little boy five years old, named Brown, told where they were, when an older boy, named Wheaton -fell ivpon him and beat htm in a shocking manner, and then told him if he informed who hurt him he would kill him. He went into the school, and was so uneasv 1 restless that the teacher inquired what jras the matter. He refused to tell. She :oolt him home, a phvsician was called, and it was found that" several of his ribs xr.ro broken, and otherwise bruised in a Jrutal manner. Ho lingered about three Jays aud expired, but would not tell un,til a short time before he died, how he became hurt. Wheaton has run away. The Cincinnati Enquirer learns from the best authority, that for miles in the waters of the Beech Fork of Salt River A.y., the fish are dying by thousands. Ihe shore is covered with their dead bodies to such a degree that tht atmoph-re is Iaoded with an offensu tmell. The hogs aere been turned loot to feed oponthem.

Returns of the Tennessee election fluctuate much, and the result is quite doubtful. From appearances to-day, Johnsii's (dem.) chances are as good as Gentry's. Rivers, know nothing, is chosen to Congress from the IOth district by 200 majority. Zollikofler, know nothing, is chosen in the Hermitage district by an overwhelming majority. The latest returns, including 32 counties, make Gentry's net gain 1,370. The election will be quite close, whichever way il goes. rlh Carolina Election. Baltimore. August 4, Further returns from North Carolina indicate the election of Payne, know, nothing, in the 1st Congressional District. In the 4th District, Cranch, domocrat leads Shepherd nearly 2.900. Reeder's removal, that answers have been received br the Executive from Judges Elmore and Lecoinpte, who were connected with Rheder in bis land speculations at Pawnee town, and that they admitted their participation in them. Johnson and District Attorney Isaacs had not answered. Proceedings were likewise commenced anainst Maior Mont gomery, the commandant al Fort Riley, who was also concerned in the speculations, and Generals Clark and Churchill were sent out as a commission of iuquiry. They have submitted their evidence in the case, in which a court martial has .le&n ordered. The correspondent further s'ates that, when similar charges were made, nine months ago, against Col. French, commandant at Fort Leavenworth, the Secretary of War refused to order a court of inquiry, and lbs af fair was passed over. --<>--- Horrible Murder. MILWAUKEE. August 3. An arrival from Council Bluffs on the 26th ult.. reports great excitement at Omaha City on account of the murder of the Omaha chief Logan, while on a Buffalo hunt, by a band of Sioux Indians.--It is stated that the Omahas are to join the Pawnees to make war on the Sioux. ---<>--- SOMETHING MYSTERIOUS.--Capt. Hollcroft told us yesterday, that during the past week there have been found filiating in the river, between here and Henderson three dead bodies, all bearing marks of violence. One of them which was pxked up last Sunday, was nicely, if not finely dressed and gave every appearance that when living, the man was well to do in the world. Nothing however, was found on him by which he could be identified, no papers or letters of any kind. He was a medium sized man, and had on a snufTcolored coat. There was a bullet found in the breast, and a horrid cut across one of the eyes," running down from ihe top of the forehead nearly to the mouth. No clue, of course to the perpetrator. <Lou. ATTENTION DEfflÖÖRÄTSi There will be a County Convention of the Democrats of this county, at the Court House in Plymouth, on the fi'rst day of September next, to nominate a candidate fjr County Clerk and for County Commissioner of the first district. The Democratic voters of each Township ore requested to meet in primary convention on the last Saturday in August, and nominate delegates to meet in the County Convention. It is recommended to select one delegate for every 20 Democratic voters, and one for every fraction over 20. and according to the last Congressional vote, the townships would be entitled to delegates as follows: Centre, 9; West. 3; Polk, 4; North. 3; German, 3: B urbon. 3; Tippecanoe. 2; Green, 3 and Union 4. Il is hoped thai no township .will fail to send delegates: and in the primary meetings for that purpose, that no person will be permitted to vote or be selected as a delegate, who is not a true Democrat, or such a man us prefers the principles of tne old line Democracy to the evanescent ideas of factionitm. It is one oflhe darling ideas of the party of factions", to 'wring in" on the meetings ot ttie old parties, and eiiher crrale confusion or get th majority by voting, and then come into the higher conventions as though they had been sent there by the party tnev-,Tisn to destroy; ana it enough to say, that a part) who has to resort to such means to succeed, is unworthy of the support of men who claim n- T.o--,,-,.., i. In order to secure that harmony and give every section its due proportion of power, township meetings for the selection of delegates and delegate County conventions, have always been found the most available, and most free from that corruption that flows from large mass meetings for the transaction of business; nnd at this time, when fnclionists deem it a duty to succeed by risorganizing such meetings, a delegate convention i deemed far preferable. The mode of inhalation, for diseased lunps and throat, recommended by Dr. Curtis in his advertisement, strikes us as the true one. 7t is nor penerally admitted by our best physicians, that local difficulties can only be successfully treated by local applications This practice has been pursued from the first w'.th respect to external inflamation and corrosions, and wet-ee not whj diseases of the throat and lunps may not be treated in the same manner; we believe they may. In this variable climate of ours, where lung and throatcomplaints have become so prevalent and rife, we earnestly recommend to the public, aud to the afflicted especially, to avail themselves of Dr. Curtis's remedy.
