Many of our old citizens do not know 01 have forgotten the namesofthe streets grounding their premises, and for'their j coijvecience and for the benefit of those j uitin the place and purchasing; prop- ; c-rty, we furnish below, from the platt of the town, the names of the streets and their locations: Tho tot upon which Wheeler's store room is situate, is lot No. 1. They number 2, 3, 4 and 10 on north, 011 Michigan street to Jackson street, including Judge Fuller's residence, which is on lot No. 21. Thea immediately west of Fuller's the vacant lot on the corner of Michigan and Jackson stre.ets is lot No. 22, and then the numbers trace back on the west side 1 of Michigan street, to the old Plymouth Hotel building on lot No. 42, opposite Wheeler's. The lots immediately west of Michigan street, number in the same way upon the east side of Centre street running north and south beginning with No. 43, and reluming to opposite 43, with No. 83, upon which is the residenco of J. L. Westervelt. The blocks on the north and south of the courthouse square, ore laid off to front the square in-' Mead of fronting Centra street, as all the other blocks do on that street, and the two eastern and middle lots in each of those blocks are numbered in coming don Centre street, and the western lots get their numbers on going up Walnut st. which runs west of the public square. The lots so continue to number, until they reach No. 141, within one block of the norlh west corner of the platt, on Plumb street, which passes immediately in front of the new Seminary. No. 142 then commences in the extreme north east corner of the old platt, opposite Fuller's mill, and numberiug down Water street, terminating at the river, east of Wheelet s stor room, with No. ICO. On the cast side of the town running north and soalh part of the route in the river i Water street. The next west is Michi gan street; the next Centre, Walnut andl jPlumb. We now begin the streets running east and west, or cross streets, with Lnporle street, striking Michigan St. at the corner of the old Plymouth Hotel. The nm is Gano, tbn Washington, Adams and Jefferson, which last street rum along the south sidv'cf the p.ublic .squire, .then;
north of the square are Madison, Monroe, and Jackson streets; then there are three blocks' containing eight lots each, all west of Michigan street, and north of Jackson to Harrison street. Each of the other blocks contain six lots.

Sink Hole party good. Louisville Democrat. Cor. Ecrdrr, of Kanus. Some time since. Gor. Reeder, of Kan sas, published a letter, addressed to Mr. Manypenny, Commissioner of Indian &ffairs, reflecting very severely upon that functionary fur allusions contained in a report to the President iu which he (the Commissioner) recommended that certain contracts, made bv Reeder, who was tointj inlcrested with the. two associate Justices of the supreme court and the United States attorney of Kansas, with certain half breed Indians for lands, be not approved. Thin letter was generally published in the newspapers, and closed with the following paragraphs: Your report on these contracts makes, as I have shown, fierce charges of fraud. If they are true, I am a dishonest intn; if false, you are a slanderer. One of vs, then, disgraces the office he holdsand it is time to know which is the rnan. Iu view of this, I propose to you, sir, a compact, that if you hall, before the firslday of Oclober next, make good those charges to the satisfaction cf the Tregident. he shall at once remove me from office; and if you fail, the sam.e penalty shall be meted out to you. Tou have sown your miserable, baseless, inexcusable calumny broadcast oyer the Union, and now I solicit, I challenge, I defy you to this test, if there i? a spark of manliness in your composition, you will not shrink from it. 1 desire to goad. you to its acceptance. Office, in my estimation, is of little val. ue; reputation is priceless, and my only fear that you will decline this offer is based upon the cogent evidence that jour estimate of these commodities is in an inverse ratio to mine. 'I shall make this letter public, and await your early replyaddressed to Easton. Pennsylvania. I express the hope lhat your reply vrill be a categorical, dis-
tinct, and positive acceptance or refusal j of my proposal, without any evasion of i
the point, or creation of new issues. 1 will make no other issue, and enter into no discussion with you until this is disposed of, Bnd your reply, if not published by yourself, will be published by mo." Mr. Manypenny's reply is a most triumphant one, showing coitclusivel) , that the contracts in question were contrary to law and the regulations of the Indian department. He puts Gov Reeder utterly hors de combat, aud closes his communication as follows; 'In relation to the singular proposition for 'n compact' between us. by which it shall be agreed that,, in a given con- .: . :. u fc f o i...r..7 , I . , v' tober r.ext. tlie President shall remove one of us, I have to remark that I have no bargains to make, and certainly none of this character.
