Girlhood and Scott? Emufjrfon are linked together. The girl who takes Scott' f Emtitsion has plenty of rich, red blood; she is plump, active and energetic The reason is that at a period when a girl's digestion is weak, Scott' Emuteion provides her with powerful nourishment in easily digested form.

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Voreis returned to their home in Hammond Tuesday after spending a few days with the former's brother, Daniel, in this city. The United Stater. Army is 19,000 men short of the minimum desired. It is not a bad pi :e for the unemployed who can piss the requirements. The oldest inhabitant with his record of warm winters should have bten on duty durirg the past two months. The warm weather is still with js. Steamships are carrying passengers to Europe for less thai 2 cents a mile, with subsistence thrown in. Transportation by water is beyond comparison the cheapest. The amount of money hoarded durirg the recent flurry is estimated at $275.000,000. As this is only $3.50 per capita the calculation may be called decidedly conservative. About 100 men were fed in the free soup house at South Bend Monday.
Many tenants are being disposed of on account of the non-payment of
rent. The situation is serious.
A. L. Anson of Warsaw, found a snapping turtle measuring 11 inches across the back creeping along Main street in that city. It's a sure sign of an open winter the old residents say.
