Mrs. Francis White has returned to South Bend after a visit with relatives in this city and vicinity. Miss Dottie Haines, who is attending South Eend Commercial college, is visiting her parents for a few days. Mrs. A. Thompson of Rochester, spent Thanksgiving with her daughter, Mrs. -W. H. Lawrence in this ty. William Erwin of Bourbon, sp' Thanksgiving in Cleveland, 0... with his daughter, Mrs. Hope Griswold. Miss Samantha Stair has returned to her home near Elkhart after a visit at the home of her brother, Reuben Stair. Mr. and Mrs. Crowder were called to Waveland, Ind., Thursday evening by a telegram which said her father was dying. Among those here for Thanksgiving, not previously mentioned, were Carl Speisshoffer and Mrs. Dr. Victs of Chicago. Mrs. Townsend of Walkerton, went to South Bend after a visit with her sister and the family of Mr. Clark the baker. . The postoffice at Twin Lakes will be discontinued Jan. 2, and the mail intended for that vicinity will be sent to Plymouth. Will, Lossen and Pearl Hurt, who are employed at Mishawaka, spent the Thanksgiving holiday with their parents in this city. Mrs. W. T. Hubbara and son, Hugh, of Toledo, spent Thanksgiving in Plymouth and went from here to Argos to visit relatives. Citizens of Plymouth will always recollect Nov. 29, 1906 ,as one of trie most beautiful and pleasant Thanksgiving days they ever saw. The"school teachers of Marshall county arrived in large numbers Friday morning to attend the county institute Friday and Saturday. The case of the State of Indiana versus A. M. Johnson charged with killing Eugene Kemp has been postponed until next term of court . Mrs. Jane Harker, of Mishawaka, ate her Thanks giving dinner with friends in Plymouth and went from here to Argos to visit relatives. Mrs. Mary Young died at her home southwest of Bourbon Monday, May 26, aged 83 years. She was an aunt of Mrs. Jones Grant of this city. Peter Bergman of Toledo, Ohio, Peter Emenaker of Benton Harbor and ? Earl Twoomey of Bourbon, enjoyed Thanksgiving in Plymouth. Mrs. II. C. Bryan and little daughter of Mishawaka, have rrturned home after a visit of a week with the families of Arthur and Delbert Bry an.

Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Saeger of Mishawaka, spent Thanksgiving with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Saeger and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sebell in this city. Thanksgiving cheer was provided for the unfortunate all over Chicago, feasts being spread in the jail and bridewell, hospitals,- homes, aaylum. and many other institutions. The department of agriculture wili shortly issue a bulletin on conveniences on the farm. One that has ' t een increasingly in vogue in recent years is a comfortable bank account. Astounding story of corruption in the general land office at Washington is related in the land fraud inquiry at S;Jt Lake City, high officials having been mere tools of corporations, witnesses say. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Sponslcr have returned to South Bend after .a visit with Mr, Sponsler's mother who is lying at the point of death at her home on east Laporte street. She U 85 years old. Miss Sewell, the nurse, who has been at the bedside of her sister in Michigan City three weeks was home a few hours Wednesday. Her sister is still seriously ill with i'lfc hope of recovery. The Starke County Democrat thinks about half the session of the coming legislature will be devoted to determining whether or not tht Jim Goodrich combination owns and controli that body. Among those at their old homes in this city for Thanksgivng were Dr. Howe and family of Lakeville, Arthur Underwood and family of South Bend, Rollo Leonard and Sydnej' Becker of Chicago. The union Thanksgiving services at the Methodist church were well attended. Rev. Mr. Switzer preached an excellent sermon and the Mozarts and Miss Hazel Neff gave the large audience good music. Bethel M. E. church about eight miles south east of Plymouth, has been remodeled and will be rededicated Sunday, Decmber 9. Hon. Charles O. Merica, the well known Warsaw orator, lecturer and teacher will deliver the dedicatory address. Culver Military Academy had about COO visitors for Thanksgiving and served dinner for 1,100 persons. There were visitors from as far north as Alaska and as far south as Colombia, South America. The school has students from every state of the United States. Prof. Christie, seed corn expert of Purdue University, is telling the farmers of the state that the early October frosts have done untold damage to the seed corn crop of Indiana. Tests of hundreds of sample corn submitted to Prof. Christie have proven that much of the seed crrn 1 bad.
