ADDITIONAL LOCAL.

Five tons of binding twine a day are to be manufactured at Michigan City. Miss Bessie Harris came down from South Bend to spend Sunday with relatives.

Miss Esther Dunfee, of Etna

Green, was in the city Saturday on her way to South Bend.

The cold wave that started for northern Indiana January 21, was

prostrated by the heat.

Mrs. S. J. Bergener and children of Donaldson spent Saturday with

Mrs. Burgener's parents in this city

Miss Goin has returned to her home at Anderson after a visit of several days with Mrs. Elmer Taylor.

Rev. D. B. Kesslinger of Bourbon attended the meeting of the Sunday school executive committee in this city Saturday. A number of the ladies from Kewanna spent Friday at the home of Mrs. J. E. Ellis. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis resided in Kewanna several years ago and have many friends there. Rev. J. S. Crcwder was disinfected and released from quarantine Saturday morning and sent to Lakeville to unite in marriage Mr. Clarke Farrier and Miss Celeste Easterday, at noon, Saturday January 27. Thirty-three is the total number saved from the wreck of the steamer Valencia. Of these 15 reached Cape Beale in boats, and eighteen were picked up near the wreck by the steamer Topeka. She had 134 on board. The number of boys almost equal the number of girls in the high schools of Indiana, but more is expected of the girls because the boys have to bear the burden of keeping up the reputation of the schools in the athletic field. The Democrats of Center township have selected the following precinct

committeemen for the campaign of

1906; precinct Xo.l, George Zimmerman; 2, H. A. Logan; 3, L. G. Harley; 4, Thomas Chaney; .", W. T. Leon

ard; 6, John R. Jones; 7, Bert Boggs.

Mrs. Ellis and Mrs. Harry Armstrong gave a brilliant reception to a number of visitors from Kewanna at the home of Mrs. Armstrong on

Sophia street Friday afternoon. Many

prominent riymouth ladies wert

present and it was an enjoyable oc

casion. The Indianapolis Star says: "There will be much more point and cogency to these complaints against Governor Hanly when the complaints submit in evidence some provision of the law which he has violated either in letter or spirit or show that his actions are unprofitable to the public treasury or dictated by a desire to pervert the law and shield wrongdoers from the consequences of their acts." It seems to us that here is a proposition that it is impossible to meet. The recent tests made of Indiana coal by the Government at the testing plant have demonstrated that the Indiana coal is the greatest steam making coal in the country. This one fact has attracted the attention of manufacturers all over the country and was an important factor in the Amrican Steel Company's selection of Indiana Harbor as the site for hs proposed plant. Although the coal fields of Indiana are mostly in the Southern part of the täte, yet the transportation of coal to the lake front on the northern boundary is, according to the Geographical Survey, a small matter.

All old-time Cough Syrups bind the bowels. This is wrong. A new idea was advanced two years ago in Kennedy's Laxative Honey and Tar. This remedy acts on the mucuos membranes of the throat and lungs and loosens the bowels at the same time. It expels all cold from the system. It clears the throat, strengthens the mucous membranes, relieves coughs, colds, croup, whooping coughs, etc. Sold by Fred Wenzler.
