who do not g-et enough outdoor air and gpod oxygen in their lung's. There are too many white blood corpuscles in such cases, and there is often a peculiar sound in the heart, called a murmur, in cases of anemia. This heart murmur is caused by thfnness of the blood passing: through the heart. The murmur of anemia disappears when the blood regains its natural consistency and richness. It is not heart disease. Sometimes people suffer intense pain over the heart, which is not heart disea, but caused by the stomach. It is the occasion of much anxiety, alarm and suffering-, for which its victim is dep indent upon reflex disturbances from the stomach caused by indigestion. In the samr. way many bad coughs are dependent upcn these reflex disturbances of what is called the pneumopastric nerve. To enrich the blood and increase the red blood corpuscles thereby feeding the nerves on rich red blood and doing away with nervous 'Irritability, take Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery, which promotes digestion and assimilation of food so that the fclood gets its proper supply of nourishment from the stomach. Get as near to nature's way as you can. A medicine-made entirely of botanical extracts and which doe? not contain alcohol is the safest Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery contains no alcohol or narcotics. D Pierce's Pleasant Pellets are the best liver pills. Bi g Meeting at Culver. Thursday v?a3 a raw, cold, damp day but Governor Durbin and Congressman Brick addressed the largest political meeting ever held in the southwest part of the county. The great tabernacle was completely packed and the speakers held the closest attention of the great audience for over three hours. Governor Durbid showed what the republican party has done and will do for the state of Indiana, and Mr. Brick made an eloquent presentation of national issues.

Cause o! LocKjaw. Lockjaw, or tetanu. is caueed by a bacillus or germ which exists plentifully in street dirt. Appleman & McDuffie have commenced making the blocks for the new Christian church at corner of Walnut and Garro streets. The location is one of the best in the city. There have been thirty deaths from smallpox in Battle Creek in the past year, and the pest house is at present overcrowded and patients are given inadequate shelter in tents. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Roberts, of Plymouth, spent Sunday in Rochester with her brother, A. II. McCartcr. They are considering a trip to California for the benefit of Mrs. Roberts' health. Rollin Ellison, the former Lagrange banker, was Monday morning taken to Michigon City prison, to begin his sentence of one to three years on his plea of guilty to the charge of embezzlement. It is reported that General Kuropatkin may again take the initiative in the Mukden neighborhood, with the hope that by recent bad weather he won't find it so hot as it was when he took it before. The editor of the Lagrange Call defends Rollin Ellison, the convicted banker, says he is honest and declares his punishment is too severe. What do the depositors who lost money think of the matter? There was a reunion of the family of G. A. Marsh at Sligo, Sunday. G. C Marsh of Georgetown, Neb., C. B. Marsh of Riverside, Neb., and Mrs. Mary Strawhecker of North Dak., were home for a visit and the other brothers and sisters joined them at the old home Sunday. John Wlndbigler, a veteran ot the civil war, received a circular which has been sent to all old soldiers by the democratic commtitee. It is headed Parker, Patriotism, Prosperity, Peace." and tells the old soldiers how bad they have been treated by the republican party. An article in another column of this paper under the caption of "Democrats and Pensions," is a complete answer to this circular, which Mr. Wlndbigler brought to our office as a sample of bow democrats are crying to fool the "old boS."
Purchase ot Votes Begins. The democrats have again commenced, in at least three counties in Indiana, the purchase of yotes, taking the written receipt of the voter purchased, which receipt contains an agreement binding the voter to tote the entire democratic ticket on election day. Two years ago they pursued the same plau. Upon election day they used the same receipts to compel the voter to stay away from the polls and after the election prosecuted many of them and bad them fined and disfranchised. " When the attention of the voter is called to the matter he is very slow to sign any paper that may come up against him in a court of justice or places him in the power of the democrats. Only the most ignorant will do so. - - .
Will NeedcXin$ tn Brine. It is said Tom Taggart is now bending every energy toward carrying tbe legislative ticket of Indiana for democracy that he may succeed Fairbanks in the United States senate.
