The bookbinders have announced that they will walk" out if Miller goes to work and that the allied trades will take sympathetic action. Tho local branch of the International Bookbinders union held a largely attended meeting at Odd Fellows ball to consider what action should be taken on the subject. The meeting discussed the matter for three hours. nd then adjou'.ned subject to the call K,t the arbitration committee of the nnion. There were many speeches, and apparently a number of votes, but Just what they were alout no ore who attended the meeting was willing to say. President Barrett would not give the least intimation of what was done at -the meeting, saying he believed that nothing should be said while there was a possibility of the adjustment of the differences. Kiram Powers, John Ullis and Otto Benz, striking moulders from the Steams' .shop, have been found guilty of contempt of court by Justice WJWm C. Andrews. Powers was fined $75 and sentenced to serve thirty days; Lillis, .$50 and thirty days, and Benz was fined $50. . Justice Andrews said: "As to the merits of the original dispute between the parties I have no knowledge. Certain truths, lioweve:, we all hold to be self-evident With or without reason, alone or together, workmen may leave their employers. "By argument or persuasion, by ap peals to sympathy or prejudice, they. may lead others not to take their vacant places. But here they must step. Every man may work upon the terms that seem to himself best. If he caunot his personal liberty is abridged. It is his right as a free man. To protect him In this right gove:nments and courts may use their full powf.s. If they fail to do so they fail in their duties. It was to force these everyday rules that the Injunction In this cftse was granted. It permitted the use of all peaceful methods. "It simply prohibited the use of terror or violence. It sought to prevent riot os disorder, acts made criminal by our penal code. I find that the three men deliberately disobeyed the order of the court." Chicago Striker Alio Pualshed. Chicago, July 25. Strikers who violated the Kellogg Switchboard acd Supply Co. Injunction have been dealt with by Judge Holdom. Fines and ;all punishments were meted out to six men. Those who received punishment at the hands of the couit were: John O'Brien, ten days In Jail; A. Mashek. Ixty days in jail; Jacob Chrfstlanson, thirty day In jail; Charles Evans, fined $25; Lu S. Visits Model House aud Talks to the Tea nu Alio Call at Maynooth College, Itouian Catholic Dublin, July 25. King Edward and Queen Alexandra separately visited a number of public institutions. The weathe. was perfect, and everywhere scenes of enthusiasm were repeated by the crowds lining the routes. Ills majsty first visited the dwellings built for working people by Lord Iveagh (Cecil Guinness) and others, and en tering the tenements, talked freely with the occupants. The king and queen in the after-con visited Maynooth college, attended by Chief Secretary for Ireland "Wyndham and his suite. They were received on thel arrival, by the archbishops of Dublin, Cashol and Tuani, twenty bishops and other ecclesiastics. In replying to the address of welcome which was presented the king expressed his hearty thanks and paid a really graceful tribute to the dead pope. The evening party given by their majesties at the vice regal, lodge practically closed the visit to Dublin, which has been most successful and devoid of a single untoward Incident. Everywhere the greatest loyalty, devotion and enthusiasm was shown. The visit to Maynooth was unp ecedented, for although the king visited it when Prince of Wales no English sovereign ever before entered Its walls. Bruised from head to foot, and delirious from all night buffetting with the waves of Great Salt lake, Boslyn Wells was found lying on the rocks. The body of his companion. Hoy Larkin, aged 15 years, has not been found. Wells and Larkin, with Wells' sister-in-law, Miss Pomeroy, went in bathing at Saltair. They waded far out until deep wate;' wa3 reached. litre they floated for some time In the buoyant brine. A strong breeze snrang up and when they . attempted to return Larkin, who was unable to swim, could make no headway. Miss Pomeroy reached the pavilion, but rescuing parties were unable to find any trace of Wells and I-arklr, and Wells said he had lost Larkin about 3 o'clock in the morning, after having supported him all night. A warrant for the arrest of Miss Ella Hodge, also known as Allie Fisher, charging her with the murder of William Ryan, a spectacle vender, whose body, tied hand and foot and gagged, was found under his wagon near Murray about ten days ago, has been issued. After living together for eighteen years, Charles Cox and Miss Martha Wilson were married for the first time in the presence of two of their own five chil dren and several court house attaches. Heavy-hearted and with racking conscience the couple appeared together and procured a marriage license. Curloas Lack of Con rage. Rev. E. W. Clifford, of Chesterfield, ?ourt bailiff, ma rled the couple, and at their request added a prayer. They talked for some time to the minister, ronfessing their wronc, which by their marriage they hoped they had atoned for, and felt much relieved in mind.' They had met, they said, eighteen years ago in Ohio, fell madly In love, ran away from home, and, while lack ing the cou.age to be married, they settled down to live together and nev er separate. Five children were born to them, and all are living. His Lot for Her Increased. Cox frankly stated that with the years his love for the woman Increased, and more so when, through a long siege of sickness, she tenderly nursed him. They finally concluded that they would summon their courage and be ma ried. The entire family left Mun de for an outing for a short time along White river. Cox being somewhat broken in health. SULPHUR SPRINGS IN PERIL French Lick Threatened with Lose nf Its Mala Gay Injunction Is 8ecured from Co art. Paoll, July 25. Injunction proceedings were filed before Judge Buskirk by French Lick citizens seeking to restrain outside persons f.om operating pumps end other devices calculated to destroy the sulphur springs at French Lick. Azor C. Smith, Miles Boland, Elber Pruitt, Will W. Caves and the French Lick Springs Hotel company are the complainants. They allege that Jchn L. Howard, George B. Gagnon and the Baden Lick Sulphur Springs company conspl:ed together and partially destroyed the sulphur springs at French Lick by the use of engines, pumps and machinery, thereby controlling the streams and water currents which connect and freed the sulphur sp:ings. It is further alleged that by thus procuring water from drilled wells, some' distance from the springs, the flow from the springs' has been decreased, Judgs Buskirk g. anted a temporary restraining order. Spontaneous Com bastion Is Costly. Crawfordsville, Ind., July 2.S. The large stock barn of Lon Young was destroyed by fire, together with eight head of valuable horses, three buggies, farming implements and hay, entailing a los of ?20,000. The 7-montns-old child of Mr. and Mrs. John Swaby. of Stafford township, swallowed a grain of corn, which lodged In Its windpipe at a point where It cannot be dislodged. Seward Held to the Oravnd Jury. Greencastle, Ind., July 23. The preliminary hearing of Henry Seward, for the murder of his wife, haw resulted in holding the defendant to the grard Jury on charge of murder. The grand Jury will not meet until September, and it is not likely that Seward will make any effort to have thecharge reduced so that bond will be admissible. Columbia City, Ind., July 24. Fred. Hess, 24 years old, has confessed to the authorities that he attempted to blackmail S. P. Taylor by threatening to destroy a block of buildings in the business section here. Hess Is a son of a Union township farmer and behind his story is one of himself and his fiancee. Miss Daisy Llnvllle, who at first refused to believe the charges against him and who has since been overcome because of them. Young Iless comes from a good family and this opened the best homes to him when he first came he:e. He was so smooth in carrying on his operations to raise money by the blackmail method that he had the town in a state of terror for a time and baffled Chicago detectives who were trying to run him "down. Got Hit Id from a Story. Hess says that he obtained the Idea of trying to blackmail Taylor from a story that he had read in the magazine section of a newspaper. He was tired. of farm life and hoped to get wealthy eoo- by operating his scheme in Columb'a City. Soon aftrr Hess came to town, S. P. Taylor, superintendent of the Harper buggy works and agent .for the valuable buildings in the busi ness section, began to receive anonymous letters. They were unsigned, and demanded that he leave $1,000 at a certain spot, or the buildings he contiolled would be destroyed.
