The Pacific from Liverpool with dates to the 23th reached her wharf at half past 12 to-day. She left Liverpool on the 23, and made the trip in 11 days and 20 hours. She brings 60 passengers. Ko tidings cf the Propeller Lafayette had reached Livorpoot when she sailed. Wheat is dull. Corn more active at slight advance. Freight dull. England Parliament is still upon the ecclesiastical title bill. Crops look well and are backward. France, in a commercial point cf view, the French news is better than at last advices. Politically it is unimportant. Esglasd. At the Great Exhibition yesterday to the astonishment of almost everybody, notwithstanding the fall of the price to one shilling, the Crystal Palace was not so much crowded as usual. A gnat rush was anticipated, buta comparatively small number came. France. In the French Chamber they have had very violent debates. On Friday, the Minister of the Interior was assailed for exercising undue influence in a recent election lor department of land. M. Franc-lie pleaded that he had expressed the firm opposition of the Cabinet to tiie eiectorial law of May 31. The defence failed. The Assembly would have been better pleased if the ministry had boldly declared that the povernmeiit hud inihienced the elections in its favor. 130 Hungarian refugees have embarked from Havre for New York. A report states that the Austrian Government has consented to the liberation ofKo.-suth, biit it is not confirmed by other arrivals. New York, June 3. The sailors, Dougluss, Clement and Hall, who killed the mate of the barque Glen, have been sentenced to be hung on the 25:h inst. Three other men, Cornell, Stoops and "Wall, are to be hung on the 27th. An abortive attempt to overturn the government "of Chili was made on the 20th of April. Iloboken, June 2. There was no disturbance here yesterday, although a party of some two hundred were assembled. The strong military forces present, repressed all attempts at riot. John Jordan, an old merchant, of Patterson, N. J., has been arrested for having a large amount of counterfeit notes in his possession, W. L. Gallagher, formerly an elector, has been appointed pension agent for Ohio, vice Judge Hall, removed. Boston, June 3. The testimony in the fugitives case his cb se 1 to-day, and II;n. J. P.Hall commenced t.Vj closing argument for the defence. The trial of Stephen D. Crary, for the murder of George Haward, depot master on the Fitchburg railroad, commenced to-day in the Supreme court. New York, June 5. Proceedings have been commenced bv Coddington and wife, formerly Miss Hanmer, against Col. J. W. Webb. The lady is the one referred to by Col. V. in his charge against Willis. Morris, N. J., June 4. It is understood that three indictments which grew out of transactions connected with officers of the State Hank at Morris, N. J raine up for trial at the Monis county Court on the 17th. Struintxmt Collision The steamer Visitor left our wharf yesterday afternoon for Evansville, and when turning the bend three miles below town, was run into by Hiram Powers, coming up, and immediatels sunk to her hurricane deck. It seems the boat on turning the bend did not see each other, t at least did not get signals in tim- to save the collision. The Hiram Powers is large, loaded with railroad iron for the visitor were takan on board by the Powers and brought up to town just at dark last evening. The Visitor is supposed a total Joss. Colfax is a clever fellow, but of courte w cannot wish him success. One who would consent to abandon the dignified position of an editor, for a seat in Congress, deserves to be beaten. We thought our friend of the Register had mor pride but h whig will do anything.-Detroit Fret Press. Grace Greenwood thinks that General Houston would fill the presidential chair pretty well only let him be put under bonds not to whittle the arm off.
