The following is copied verbatim from the preamble of the Articles of Association of the Banking Clearing House of the United States: βTo adapt our badness to the volume of lawful money at any and all times , save labor, cheapen cost, and reduce amount of floating cash necessary to the settlement of accounts between individuals,if effected singly. and obviate the necessity of borrowing money for business purposes; we, the bankers of America, form ourselves into a body corporate, and adopt the following Articles of Association. β β
