De Motte.

Mrs. Fay Granger gave birtii last week to a line 10 pound boy. Some very dry persons broke into Reese Dunn’s place of business on the 7th and helped themselves to his stock. The guilty party the next day seemed to want a wider sidewalk than the town affords. He was notified to leave town at once and has done so. W. Posey and Joseph De Arrnond have opened a meat market in George Peck’s old stand. John Tow has removed to a farm southwest of town. Mrs. Jacob Hanni is laid up with a frog felon on her haud. Our Townsman, L. McGainess, has the contract to build the Keener township gravel road. The last legislature takes loyal cognizance of the fact that we are always to have the poor with us hence has made it obligatory on the township officers to levy a special poor tax according to expenditures of the year previous.
