James Sherman of Aix purchased a couple of nice bay mares at the sale last week, both colts and thoroughbred. \llen Louks of Aix has a fine 5 year old mare to exchange for a good work horse. The mare is a good roadster. Jasper Kenton commenced Monday rebuilding his residence, which was destroyed by fire last Wednesday night. H. W. Jackson late of Campaign Co. 111., has moved to his farm northeast of town and will be one of us henceforth.

The families of C. N. Louks, Scott Graham and others near Aix have been having a severe tussle with the mumps. Trustee Kanpke of Kankakee township is reported as quoting his people to be very much opposed to the big Kankakee drainage project; that 60 out of 63 are thus arrayed. Geo. Kessler of De Motto, who has been very sick for about five months, will move to Yalma with his aged wife to live wilh their daughter, Mr.--. M. E. Hinkle next week. Mrs. George W. Wolverton of Chalmers is visiting at the Home’ of J. G. Reynolds. Also Levi Reynolds a®d Mrs. Jacob Raub of the same locality spent Sunday at the same residence. J. H. Mrs. Mary E, Johnson, of Remington enters divorce proceedings against her husband William T. Johnson. They were married in 1867. She charges him with repeatedly abusing her in a shocking manner, threatening her life, and being a habitual drunkard; with abandonment and failure to provide. Miss Mamie J. Williams, daughter of J. W. Williams, the banker and furniture dealer, and Mr. Charles H. Porter, of the firm Porter & Wishard, were married yesterday afternoon, at one o’clock, at the residence of the bride’s parents, by Rev. R. D. Utter of Trinity M E. church. It was a private' wedding. The newly married couple took the first train for Chicago, and will make an extended southern tour.
