Gillam Items.
Sleighing has been quite popular with the young folks the past week. The series of meetings at the Gillam school house closed Sunday evening. Much interest was manifested, resulting in ten new members. Rev. Greenway began a protracted meeting at Independence Monday evening. Nathan Miller, of Gifford’s Marsh, formerly of Benton county, has moved onto the farm of T. H. Robinson. Last Friday evening the father of T. H. Robinson, Mike Robinson and Mrs. Harvey McCully died very suddenly, shortly after retiring. For the past year he and his aged wife have made their home with their son, T. H. Robinson, of Rensselaer, but for a few weeks had been visiting with his daughter, Mrs. McCully, of this township. He went to bed apparently in good health. Soon afterward the family heard a noise in his bed-room and upon entering, found, after raising him up, that he was unable to speak. In a very few moments he expired. It was a sudden shock to his relatives and friends, especially his aged wife and invalid daughter. Mr. Robinson lived to the extreme age of eighty years and was one of the early settlers of Gillam township. He was an earnest, devout Christian, and though he has left this earth, his strong personality and genial character
j will long be remembered by a large circle of relatives and friends, who feel deeply his demise. His two sons. Warren and Alfred, were in attendance at the funeral, which was largely attended. Truth Seeker.
