TROUBLE IN CRETE.
Christians Killed by Mohammedan Soldiers —Houses Burned. There was firing in the streets of Canea, Island of Crete, for several haurs Thursday. Several Turkish soldiers were wounded. The trouble originated in the unfounded report that the Mussulmans had killed twentyseven Christian sentinels in Akrostri. Three-fourths of the Christian quarters in the city have been burned to the ground, according to late advices received from the Island of Crete, The Christians, while trying to escape to the warships, were attacked .by the Mussulman population. The total number of victims as a result of the reoent fighting is estimated at 300.
