Parkinson shipped a load of cattle on the New Year’s market. Cattle feeding is about the only part of farm business that is paying now. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Thompson entertained a few friends Saturday night. Lee Mauck has moved into his new house in the Austin-Paxton addition. Delos Thompson and J. F. Watson returned Saturday from their shooting trip. Mrs. C. D. Martin returned Saturday from a few days spent at thd v ' state capital. Mr. and Mrs. James Creviston have concluded their holiday visit at Union City. Newton Pumphrey is confined to his room with throat trouble and a severe cold. Mr. and Mrs. George Pumphrey returned Monday night from Rushville and Connersville where they have been visit ing for a couple of weeks. Mr. Pumphrey says the farmers and business men of Jasper county are much better off than those of the locality where he has been. The president of the first National Bank of Rushville made the statement that the farmers there Were deeper in debt than ever bfefore and absolutely powerlessto pay interest even.
