Populism in Texas.

The Dallas News, the leading paper of Texas, and it a democratic sheet, concedes the state to the populists this fall by 50,000 majority. The San Antonio Express, republican, says that if the sub-treasury plank is dropped the populist majority will be 100,000 The people are not only disgusted with national affairs but thet 7 are determined to turn down a corrupt state administration. A recent writer says: “The present state administration was ushered into power amid the vociferous cheers of its wiseacres for retrenchment and reform. In fact no previous administration ever made so many fair promises as the present universally detested administration of C. A Culberson. The reckless extravagance of the “Austin syndicate” has driven to the populist, party some of the ablest men in the democratic party. “Not a week passes but there are accessions to our ranks. Within the last few weeks ExGov. Barnett Gibbs, of Dallas, Judge L. »L. Woods, of Kaufman, Judge Geo. Todd, of Jefferson, and Judge James B. Williams of Waco. The former, Gov. Gibbs, stands without a peer as a lawyer and jurist. Wood, Todd and Williams are to Texas what Mayberry, Stephens and Harris were to Geoagia. “Nothing but indifference and lethargy on our part will defeat the people’s party on the ides of November next.
