ADDISON PARKISON.
Ti e president of the Commercial State Bank is a descendant of one of the early settlers of Jasper county, his father being John G. Parkison. a pioneer of 1837. He .is the third child in a family of twelve. His mother was Matilda, daugher of Simon Kenton, the celebrated Indian fighter. Mr. Parkison is a most enterprising and public spirited citizen, has acquired a handsome competence through conservative ventures, and the exercise of foresight in business matters, and his adv ice in transactions of importance is often sought by those friends who esteem his superior judgement. He was raised a farmer and was for years very successful in that calling and he still owns an excellent farm. He now lives in Rensselaer in the substantial brick structure ill'.it.'r: i ■ l below. He served on the Drainage Commission with a meritorious record, and has for many years been, an honored citizen, whose integrity was above question. He ■is one of the largest holders of stock in the Commercial State Bank. Addis >n Parkinson was born K a v 2:‘, 1822. at Jamesfield, Logan county, Ohio: married Barbara A. A biographical sketch of the above director of the Commercial State Bank is given on page seventeen, also an illustration of his very attractive and well kept home. The portrait which appears on this page, does the gentleman great injustice, but on account of an accident a large and better on-: could not be used. Mr. Hollingsworth is a holder of a large block of the stock of this institution and in his official capacity gives the affairs of the bank-careful attention.

EMMET L. HOLLINGSWORTH.
Mr. Hollingsworth was born Jan. 22, 1804. in New Lisbon, Columbia county, Ohio. He came with his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Hollingsworth, to Rensselaer in 1806. The family settled west of the Iroquois river, where the subject of this sketch still resides. He received a common school education and after two years in the State University of Michigan, he began his business career in A. McCoy & Thompson's bank, of this to\Vn. He continued there until April. 1805, when he. withdrew to take the cashiership oh the Commercial State Bank. He was married Dec. 31, 1887. to Miss Fannie M. Allen, of Kalamazoo, Mich. They have from this union three living children. Cecilia G.; Lois Dorothy and Gerald Emery. Both he and his wife are' members of thp Presbyterian church, and have been energetic workers in its behalf. He is also an enthusiastic member of the Masonic fraternity. JOHN M. WASSON.
Capt. Wasson was born on a farm near Union City, Drake county, Ohio, May 16, 1839. His mother was a native of Virginia, of English ancestry and is now in her eightieth year. His father was born in Miami county, Ohio, January 11, 1811, of Irish parentage. Captain Wasson. worked on the farm during the summer, attending the county schools in the fail and winter. In the winter of 1858-9 he taught sehool. He enlisted in Company O. 40th O. V. 1., September 25, 1861; took part in many skirmishes and battles, including the battle of Chicalhauga; was taken prisoner September 22.1863; spent seven months in Libby, prison and escaped through the noted Libby prison tunnel February 10, 1864. Was mustered out of the service April 10, 1865. The Captain married Miss Martha J. Wood of Rensselaer, October 19, 1865. They cammenced keeping house Christmas day, 1865, on a farm four miles south-east of Rensselaer, where they resided until Nov. 1,1889, when they moved to Rensselaer. Their children are Mrs. Nellie Coen, Mrs. Cora Nowels, and the Misses Pearl and Gail. Captain Wasson is a member of theM. E. church and prominent in the councils of the G. A. R. His was an eventful military career; entering the ranks as a private he was promoted to a captaincy. They reside in their very pretty home in Rensselaer, as per illustration below.

Commercial State Bank.
Upon the announcement, in March, 1895, of the contemplated discontinuance of the Citizens’ State Bank, the only organized banking - institution in the county, the idea was conceived of forming a new bank under the very efficient banking law of Indiana. The promoters of this enterprise lost no time in securing their charter, which was granted Apr. '2, 1895, and the bank opened at 9 o'clock of the same day, duly equipped for business. At, the close of its. - trest three months’ business the Coihercial State Bank had deposits of over $70,000, and their business since then has shown asteady increase. The bank is situated on Washington street, fronting the court bouse park, and has most complete and commodious banking rooms, neatly and substantially furnished The fire proof vault is provided with a first class screw door burglar proof safe. Safe deposit boxes are provided for the accomodation of patrons who have deeds, notes, wills or other val uable papers to deposite for safe keeping. The bank does a general deposit, discount and exchange business, receiving deposits payable on demand, or on time, with Interest. Drafts on all the principal cities of America and Europe bought and sold. Special attention paid to the sale of Eng-
No citizen of Jasper county has greater reason to be satisfied with a well spent life. He has for many years been retired from the active management of his line farm in Barkley township, and resides in Rensselaer in a beautiful home, as per illustration given below. His association with this institution, the Commercial State bank, adds much to its standing in the minds of the people. He lias been a very successful business man and is one of the solid financiers of Jasper county. He served on the Drainage Commission for three years with credit lo himself and great benefit to the people. Hejis prominent in the advocacy of all improvements; and liberal in his support of every worthy enterprise. He is a member and generous contributor to the Methodist Episcopal church. Mr. Randle is a native of Hampshire county. West Virginia, and was born in 18:il. His -parents. Thomas and Nancy (Culp) Randle, came to Jasper county with the very earliest pioneers. James was the eldest of eleven children. James T. Randle married Mrs. Ruth A. Harris, by which union they have five children, Robert, Thomrs, John, Emeline and Edward.

All of the directors and stockholders are prominent and substantial citizens of our own town, and are foremost in promoting its interests and welfare. They are all solid in a financial way, and noted for their conservative methods of business. Their connection with this, the only state bank in the county, gives it unqestioned strenght, and it will grow with the town, and merits the growing confidence of our people. Among the stockholders are the following: Addison ParkiSon, John M. Wasson, George K. Hollingsworth, James T. Randle, Emmet L. Hollingsworth, George E. Murray, Hon. Geo. H. Brown and Simon P. Thompson. The-stockholders at their first meeting elected the following directors: Addison Parkinson, president; George *K. Hollingsworth, vice president; John M. Wasson, vice president; Emmet L. Hollingsworth, cashier, and JamesT. Randle. About this time Emmet L. Hollingsworth severed his connection with the McCoy bank to take the management of the Commercial State Bank. # Mr. Hollingsworlh lias had twelve years experience in the banking business in this county, and now has the active assistance and counsel of a board of directors who are , known for their correct business methods, and ample means.
