SOUTH-EAST MARION.

To the Editor of the People's Pilot. Miss Belle Slaughter has the agency for a very valuable book, “Our Journey Around The World.” A most entertaining synopsis of which is published elsewhere in this paper. The dry weather is a thing of the past and the land is in much better condition for winter. Corn husking is about over. The crop is a fair average. There appears to be more sickness than usual. Mrs. Sellers is down with lung fever and quite a number have bad colds. Sunday school at Fairland has closed. Martin Laher, near Brookston, was recently visiting his old friend, M. Y. Slaughter. John Evans and his father were visiting at Winamac recently. Oscar Bone has been building a new barn for Joseph Adams. Mr. Ward has been erecting a barn on his new farm. George and John Havens made a recent visit to Grant county, where they say crops are very poor, and stock water scarce in all the country they passed through. The box social at the James school was a decided success. Financial School Boy.
