Michigan Presbyterian State Synod.

Adrian, Mich., Oct. 10. —Yesterday’s session of the Presbyterian State Synod was devoted to completing the organization and the hearing of committee reports. In the afternoon Dr. F. F. Ellinwood, of New York, secretary of the Board of Foreign Missions, criticised the United States and other governments for their lack of sympathy with the missionary movement, saying that while they exerted every effort to subdue the Chinese outbreaks they snarled when their navy department was called upon to protect a missionary. The report on home missions, made by Rev. David Howell, of Lansing, showed fewer vacant pulpits than at the last synodical meeting, although the church debt had increased.
