Evangelical Conference.
Elgin, 111., Oct. 10. —Several propositions for new measures were brought forth after religious exercises and the usual roll-call of the Evangelical conference yesterday, with Bishop Bowman in the chair. Among them was a plan submitted by Bishop Breyfogel for a post-ordination course of reading for ministers. The committee on episcopacy, M. Pfitzinger, chairman, presented a report, which was adopted, that the conference elect four bishops, the same number that was chosen four years ago. This election was made the order of the day for Friday morning. On Tuesday evening of next week there will be a grand rally in the interests of the young people. It will be a night for alliance workers and members, and addresses will be given in English and German.
