Presbyterians at St. Louis.

St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 10. —The United Presbyterian Synod of Illinois, composed of the states of Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Arkansas and Mississippi met here yesterday in its thirty-eighth annual session with a full representation of ministers and elders. After roll-call Rev. H. G. Huey, of Rock Prairie, Wis., was chosen moderator, and one of the delegates presented to him, to be used by his successors, a gavel made of material taken from a dismantled seminary in Beaver county, Pa., the first one built in North America. The topic, “Our Church; Her Preachers,” was taken up and Rev. J. A. Henderson, of Sparta, 111., made the opening address, which was followed by a general discussion of the subject. At the afternoon session the topic, “Our Elders,” was taken up and discussed at length.
