Whirls Forty Miles an Hour.
The spectacle of people too sick to navigate from the effects of a “fast ride” on the merry-go-round, should condemn the practice as disgusting and dangerous. It is within the province of the police to prohibit a rate of speed that is notoriously detrimental to health and which would result seriously in case of an accident, liable to at any time. The “merry-go-round” should be classed as a tent show and required to pay the same license fee. The paltry sum of SI.OO a day is entirely disproportionate to benefits received, and there are as good reasons for charging a higher fee that there are m the case ©f tent shows. Wednesday evening the tent over the concern was thrown down and several persons injured, one little girl requiring the services of a doctor. The tent poles got under the wheels, stopping the machinery and the alleged sport. It is very lucky that what might have been an appalling accident was averted.
