Elder A. Miller preached at Wheatfield Sunday last. Alonzo Boyd has returned from Fowler and is again grubbing for J. W. Smith. Johnny Dickinson and Thomas Smith, recently of Boone county, are visiting in this section. David Black is having a new barn ouilt by B. J. Gifford on the farm that he has rented of him. Miss Tip Fletcher of Nubbin Ridge was visiting Miss Maudie Wough near Hog Point Saturday. Billy Mills Cairns is the champion fisherman of this section, having caught a fish weighing in the neighborhood of eight pounds out of the Kankakee Saturday. Willis Wearhoof says if his skate strap had not broken he would have been best man in the race. As it was he got third money. Mr. and Mrs. Arlay Miller were visiting Mrs. Miller’s parents at Monroe last week, returning home Monday. Miss Flora Snider was visiting her sister, Mrs. Curns, Sunday evening, Quite a large number from this section went upon the Kankakee river fishing. The boys report lots of fun but few fish‘ Harvesting is the order of the day in this section. Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Stockwell and family were the guests of J. W. Smith and family, Sunday. Elder Abraham Miller preached at Winnemac Saturday night, Sunday and Sunday night. The wife of Mr. Burnstean died last Thursday, and the remains was taken to Chicago for interment.
