A genuine first class top buggy only $41.50 at Robt. Randle's. It is reported that a new windmill is to be put up at the court house well. Don’t forget to see the new surreys at Robert Randle’s before buying. Some of the Barkley township will have some good .fields of wheat this year. Alva Hershmanand father visited his brother, C. E. Hershman, last week. C. A. Roberts sells McCormick harvesting machines. They give satisfaction. Students from the .college are leaving for their homes to spend the summer vacation. The recent hot weather has caused serious symptoms in Uncle Robert Kepnen’s case. Geo. Houser of Gillam purchased a handsome new carriage last Saturday of Robt. Randle. Robert Randle is agent for the Deering binders and mowers. Don’t fail to get prices before buying. Isaac Tuetar received a fine new delivery wagon this week the csrriage repository of Robt. Randle. Mrs. B. Forsythe gave another very pleasant party Monday evening, June 17, for a number of her friends.

The burning of a few firecrackers is but the preliminary skirmishing of the great battle that is scheduled for July 4th. The American boy scents the battle afar. Austin, Hollingsworth & Co., are now the proprietors of the only complete set of Abstract Books in Jasper County, and are prepared to furnish Abstracts of Title on short notice and on reasonable A basket picnic and dance will be given by Paul Schultz and Paul Makus, in Schultz grove in Union township, one mile northwest of Comer’s Grove, July 4th. A fine program of speeking and music has been arranged. Plans are on foot for the inauguration of a series of union meetings to be held in the Court House park during the heated season. The Cornet band has been asked to take part. The move is one that will meet with general favor, especially as the churches are very uncomfortable places to assemble while it remains so warm.
The Christian Endeavor society of this district w’ill hold its annual convention the 26th and 27th of Jdne in Goodland. They are making great efforts to have it the best convention they have ever held. A number of delegates will go from Rensselaer to help the convention and gather all the enthusiasm they can to bring home. A number of fine speakers are expected to be present.
A big time is anticipated at the Kniman celebration for the Fourth, where a splendid program is advertised. Consult Judson H. Perkins about binding twine. He will save you money and give a superior article. Make a note of that. The fence in the rear of Dr. Lough ridge’s residence lot, which has stood several feet in the street, has been moved back to the line and the brick sidewalk laid in the prober place.
