W. Porter, the assessor has about closed the work for this year and with it the duties of nine straight years, as his term of office expires August 1st, when his successor, John T. Saylor, will take this responsible position. Mr. Porter has been elected but twice, but by the changing of laws he has served three years more than the terms for which he was elected.
