Dr. I. B. Washburn treats rupture by the injection method. The originator of the method claims that any rupture that a truss will hold up can be cured. Scarlet fever of a mild form has existed in Rensselaer and vicinity for two or three weeks. It first appeared in the family of I. J. Porter—two cases; Samuel English’s family, Barkley township—three cases; Wm. S. Day’s family, Barkley township—two cases; O. Halstead’s, Newton township—one case; Padgitt's family at the stock farm—one case; and the last, in the family of County Clerk Coover, whose little son was taken very severely but at this writing is doing well. So far there have been no deaths. One of Porter’s; one of English’s, and Mr. Coover’s little boy have been the severest cases.
