Cullom of Springfield was elected to succeed himself as United States senator from Illinois on the first ballot. Montana legislators who voted for Carter, Catholic, for United States senator have been threatened by the A. P. A. Indiana republicans have prepared a reapportionment bill, the success of which will permit them to elect a senator. Senator Thurston outlined his position on the tariff and silver in an address to the Nebraska legislature Wednesday. Ohio wool growers convention at Columbus declared the tariff law to be a “colossal political crime,”
