Samuel J. Kirkwood, Iowa's War Exeeutive, Is Dead.

lowa City, la., Sept. 8. —Samuel J. Kirkwood, lowa’s War Governor, died at 1:15 o’clock p. m. Saturday. He had been gradually failing for some time. Flags are floating at half-mast in the city. Expressions of sorrow and regret are universal among the people. The funeral service will be held at the family residence Tuesday at 2 o’clock p. m. Prominent officials and friends from all portions of the state wiJJ be present.
