TWO EX-GOVERNORS GONE.
Death at Waltham, Mass., of Gen. N» thanial I’. Banks. Waltham, Mass., Sept. 3. —Nathaniel Prentiss Banks, soldier and statesman, died at his home in this city at 8 o’clock a. m. Saturday He had been critically ill for some time and his demise was expected. On the announcement of Gen. Banks’ death the flags of the public buildings in the city were displayed at half-mast and on every side evidence of the respect in which the general is held is conspicuous. The funeral will take place Tuesday afternoon under the direction of Mayor Warden and Col. Ephraim Stevens.
