Many Cattle Drowned.
Coining, la., May 1. —A destructive waterspout visited the northwestern portion of the county on Saturday evening. Reports received show that great damage was done to pastures and plowed grounds. George C. Calkin lost twenty-three head of cattle by drowning. The* water rose higher in the small streams in the vicinity of the storm than for forty years.
