We take the following from the Winamac Democrat Journal: “Capt. J. M. Wasson, of Rensselaer, was defeated for the nomination of county clerk in the Republican convention of last week. And to still further humiliate the old veteran the convention again deliberately turned the Captain, down for county commissioner, the convention nominating another candidate for that office. And that's the way the Republicans of Jasper county show their love (?) for the old soldier.” B. F.
