SOLDIERS' HOMESTEAD RIGHTS.
Favorable Report on Kyle'a Bill Exempting Them from Six Months’ Residence. Washington, April s.—The senate committee on public lands has agreed to report favorably Senator Kyle’s amendment to the sundry civil appropriation bill providing that any honorably discharged soldier of the late civil war, not now the owner of 160 acres of land, and who has not availed himself of the privileges under the land laws of the United States, may acquire title to 160 acres of land by making application therefor in person at aD.y government land office and paying the minimum price of $1.25 per acre. The law now requires a residence of six months on the part of the exsoldiers.
