Convicted Murderer Kills a Guard In a Fruitless Attempt to Escape. Then ton, N. J., March 5. —Joseph Wallvvitz, alias John Malvvitz, sentenced to twenty years in the state prison, sawed the bars of his cell • door and gained access to the corridor, where he obtained a rope and lassoed Keeper James T. Walters and choked him into uncon sciousness. Center Keeper Joseph B. Lippincott appeared on the scene and the convict secured the gun of the unconscious man and killed Lippincott Wsilwitz was recaptured
