Gov. Jones on Honest Money.

Coined metal which contains sufficient valuable bullion to assert itself in the markets of the world, at the face value stamped upon it by government, without regard to any further act of that government, or whether it be solvent or afterwards cease to exist; and paper issues stamped by government or instrumentalities authorized by it, or promises to pay money, which are readily and freely exchanged at par with the coin of the kind above described is “honest money.”—Gov.
