Men's Soles.
One of our friends who is of a humorous turn of mind, hands us the following which reminds of many a fall we have received upon slippery sidewalks: ‘•They tell me that there are times that tries men’s soles. This I find is a fact for I have had a practical illustration of it on a slippery side walk. I have used my best effort to control my soles, and yet have failed; for in an unguarded moment, my right sole, the one that I have the most confidence in. would suddenly vear off more to the right, when the left one, being afraid it was going to be left, not knowing what the right one meant by such conduct, would suddenly dart off in a different direction, which would leave me without any visible support, and I have nad to sit down so quickly that I dislocated a tooth and shortened my spinal colum to some extent. I also had a very distinct view of the planets in the heavens, and was also observed of all observers. The'idea slipped into my mind that there was no dependance to be placed in men’s soles when the sidewalks were slippery.
