His Position Explained.

Mr. Editor— l noted the peculiar argument of the Republican last Week conceding a discretion to the Board of Commissioners to postpone the gravel road election called by the board. This construction would enable the wise editor to duplicate his large bill for advertising. This week he insists that if the voters should show a majority “yes” that the contract will have to be let instanter, if not sooner. This is because the author wants to scare some one with the calamity howl of “Hard Times.” Both positions are wrong. The election having been called and the people notified, no postponment was in order. The bids for construction can be received at any regular session in the future, Sec. 3, after advertising in this county and Indianapolis. The board can fix a time at the June or September session, 1894. To what false assumptions supposed personal interests will lead even as wise a man as Bro. Marshall. * *
