A General Explanation.
M,\.y article in last week’s piLOT, in reference to statements made by the Republican, was written hastily, in a spirit of anger, and without sufficient investigation as to the facts. After investigation I am convinced that the statement did great injustice to all parties therein mentioned. I wish now to say that I am fully satisfied that all the allusions in that article, to any alleged occurrences in. Mr. Ralph Marshall’s law office, so far as they reflect in any manner upon either Mr. Marshall or Mr. Mills, were entirely untrue and uncalled for, and that whatever may have occurred in their law office, of a questionable nature, was entirely without the knowledge or consent of either Mr. Marshall or Mr. Mills. In reference to certain events said to have taken place in the office of the Republican, I now state that I know that if the alleged occurrence did take place in the office of that paper, it was entirely without the knowledge or consent of G. E. Marshall, the editor of that paper, nor did I intend in my article to convey the impression that I thought Mr. Marshall was a party to, or had any knowledge of the alleged occurrence and I believe he never even heard a rumor of such occurrences until the publication of last week’s Pilot, In my many years acquaintance with Mr. G. E. Marshall I have always found him,fin all respects, a man of strict integrity, and I now witbdpavr all assertions to the contrary.

Members of the Reform Press Association.
Brothers: ' Being in Chicago to attend the silver convention, I have found it necessary to change the place of our meeting on September 4th. The reasons for this change I will make known at the meeting, suffice it to say now that the change is made after consultation with Bro. McDowell, vice president of the association, and with his approval; and after personally investigating the facilities for accommodation of our membership elsewhere. The place selected is Hotel Fraternity, 71st St. and Bond Ave. It is located in a beautiful grove on the lake shore, away from the smoke and noise and bustle of the crowded city, and within two blocks of the entrance to the Fair ground. It is the best, and the most commodious, as well as the most convenient place I have been able to find. Terms # are 75 cents each person per day for rooms, not to exceed two in a room, first class meals 50 cents each. No extra charge for hall for our meetings. To reach the hotel from Chicago take Illinois Central railway (South Chicago Division) either at the foot of Randolph, Van Buren or 12th St., and get off at South Shore station and go to the hotel one block east. Those desiring to receive mail or telegrams down town may have it addressed care of Independent Press Association, Boyce Building, 114 Dearborn St. It would be well to notify the proprietor of Hotel Fraternity in advance of the time of expected arrival. If you will also write Bro. J. H. McDowell, rooms 3 and 4, Live Stock Pavillion, World’s Fair, he will secure for you editorial passes to the Fair.

The success of Mrs. Annie M. Beam, of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, in the treatment of diarrhoea in her children will undoubtedly be of interest to many mothers. She says: “I spent several weeks in Johnstown, Pa., after the great flood, on account .of my husband being employed there. We had several children with us, two of whom took the diarrhoea very badly. I got some of Chamberlaiifis Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy from Rev. Mr. Chapman. It cured both of them. I knew of several other cases where it was equally successful. I think it cannot be excelled and cheerfully recommend it.”, 25 and 50 cent bottles for sale by F. B. Meyer, the druggist. Do Witt’s Witch llaz.ol Salvo cures piles.
