Think It Is Illegal.

New York, Aug. 16. —The paying of weekly wages in checks, resorted to last week by several firms and corporations doing business in this city, was aot altogether a success. It saved the firms a premium for the currency necessary to meet the weekly pay rolls, but it subjected employes to many hardships. Corporations are required by law to pay wages in cash.
