RUINED BY HOT WINDS.
Kansas Crops a Failure—Vegetation Has Suffered from Heat. Topeka, Kan., July 10.—State Bank Commissioner Bridenthal has just returned from a trip. through western Kansas. He says there will be no corn raised west of Great Bend, except in northwest Kansas, where the hot winds have not injured it. He says the hot winds are shifting in the southwest and nothing green can stand before them. Even the grass has not grown sufficiently in many counties for feed for stock, and cattlemen with large herds are confronted with a calamity that is serious and discouraging.
