OBITUARY.
Mrs. Mary A. Rhoades, wife of the venerable Chas. Rhoades, died at her home in Rensselaer Ind. Thursday afternoon. She had been an invalid and a great sufferer for fifteen years, but bore all with remarkable patience and cheerfulness. Hers was a life of great earnestness and usefulness, she possessed a character which was the embodiment of Christian grace and goodness. She was a native of Maine, born at Waterville Nov. 4th. 1814. Was married to Chas. Rhoades Aug. 25th 1833, and took up their residence at Winslow, Maine, until 1857 when they moved to Rensselaer, where they have since resided. Seven children were born to them, five of whom survive. She has been a faithful member of the M. E. church for many years. The funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church, Sunday, May 21st, at 10 o’clock. Rev. J. G. Campbell preached an appropriate sermon from the text, “There Remaineth, Therefore, a Rest for the People of God,” Heb. 11-9, after which she was laid to rest in Weston Cemetery.
