Mr. John Guss died at the home of Frank Lakin, in Union township, Tuesday afternoon. Th e funeral was held yesterday .forenoon at the Catholic church. Alf. John Kays, son of James Kays, of Barkley township, died Tuesday morning of consumptioM. The funeral will be held to-day. The body will be buried in Weston cemetery. Sampson Irwin, of DeMotte, was thrown from a buggy at Rose Lawn last Saturday, his shoulder being dislocated by his fall. His daughter Anna was slightly bruised from the same cause. Postmaster-General Bissell has issued a notice to all postmasters that there is now operating in the government building, on the worlds fair grounds, a branch of the Chicago post office.
The postage receipts at the Rensselaer post office for the month of April were $421.77, the largest months business in the history of the office.
