FAIR OAKS.
Wm. Russel’s fine barn is finished. John McColly intends moving a saw mill to this place. It is greatly needed. Jap Cleaver continues to enlarge photograpns. Park Wright visited Fair Oaks Sunday. Elmer Bennet contemplates locating in Montana. Wm. Barnes, the great hunter, came in from Mud Lake jvith forty-one ducks and one wild goose. Mrs. George Stowers came from Joliet, HL, on a visit to her husband’s relatives in Fair Oaks. She was greatly pleased with the appearance of the town, but was somewhat surprised that we had no electric lights and street cars. Alf Reed and son went gunning. All day long they waded the swamps of northern Jasper and returned in the evening with empty guns. Chas. A. Gundy keeps his house filled with ducks and geese. Sylvester Jenkins has sold his farm near Blackford and is mov-
ing into Fair Oaks where he will follow the carpenters trade. Thomas Mallatt is doing a splendid business dealing out rations from his commissary department. There is a report in circulation that Thomas Davison will continue to be postmaster for the next four years, or until some Democrat moves into Fair Oaks. Wm. Russel is building a grocery building and contemplates keeping a general assortment of novelties and notions. Seventeen town lots sold in one day quite recently. James McColly will make Fair Oaks his home in the near future. We tender him a hearty welcome.
Benjamin McColly visited Fair Oaks. He was seen with a wild z goose in his hand and he seemed very anxious to keep it until he returned to Rensselaer. , True Blue.
