War, War, War.

The Chicago Tribune is. sensational, but not consistent. It has been declaring for two years or more that the Populist craze of Kansas was rapidly dj ing out, that the following was insignificant, that reason had asserted itself, and that heuceforth the grand old Republican majority of eighty odd thousand would be forthcoming for the grand old party forevermore. Just when it, had succeeded in convincing itself and everybody else of the foregoing pleasiug facts, old Medill rushes wildly before an astonished public, looking Wilder and more frightful than an Australian bushman, and shouts war, blood, devastation, ruin, Kansas Populists are arming, the government will be overthrown, liberty will be crushed, civilization will be blotted out, alas, alas. Now the only thing of importance that can possibly be of interest to us, is when was Joseph lying; when he said the Populists were a thing of the past or when he said they were ready to declare war? Well, it would be impolite to say so, but our opinion is that he was lying all the time. In fact Joseph seems to have a contract and is rushing to fill it.
